• An Open Letter To The ENTIRE SPN Family including @jarpad, @realGpad, @TheJimMichaels, @bodyguard4jandj @DanneelHarris and @ChadLindberg
  
  Dear SPN Family-
  
  It is now 1:06am and I can’t sleep. Some of you may be wondering why I am taking the time to write this. Some of you may not even care, however, I can’t sleep because there is way too much that needs to be said. I guess I will start from the beginning. 
  
  My name is Pamela Love and I am a mother of two amazing kids. They are my life. I am also a proud fan of the show Supernatural and it’s cast and crew. Now, that being said, I am not happy with the fandom right now. This is why.
  
  At Vegas Con 2013, my daughter got up in an “I Blame Jared Padalecki For Everything” t-shirt to ask a well meaning and what was supposed to be a funny question to Jared. Unfortunately, as many of you already know, it didn’t go so well. She was, as you can imagine, a huge bundle of nerves to begin with. She had, as any kid would have, thought that maybe Jared would have remembered the joking that went on between him and I on the couple of occasions that we did meet.
  
  Now, to further explain, I had met Jared and his beautiful wife Gen at the Brian Buckley Band release party at the Viper Room in Los Angeles well after I created the “I Blame Jared Padalecki For Everything” Facebook page. I explained to them that it was all in fun because of the teasing that Jared did to me and one of my other admins at L.A. Con that year and that it was also named that because, in his words, he gets blamed for all the pranks and missed takes while shooting. At any rate, I went on to explain that a majority of the cast and their friend Brian Buckley had donated some amazing things for the charity auction that the page held to benefit one of the charities they support. It raised a ton of money. We spent a lot of time together that evening, laughing, dancing, talking and enjoying Brian’s show.
  
  Now, fast forward to Saturday, March 11, 2013…
  
  My daughter gets up to the mic, hands shaking and starts off with saying that meeting Jensen was on her bucket list. She had three things that involved him. Meeting him, getting a hug and watching him give me a hug. (To which I quickly shook my head no) Jensen asked about her shirt and she quickly said, “That brings me to my question for Jared!” She then proceeded to ask Jared how it felt to be blamed by 2,166 people for everything. (Again, she innocently thought he would remember the page) He looked confused but said it was okay because he started the Apocalypse. At any rate, there was an exchange and some obvious confusion so she tried to explain to Jensen and Jared quickly the backstory to try to jog Jared memory. Unfortunately, as we all know now, it didn’t go well. A serious case of nerves going into full effect at this point. Jensen then asked her again what her question was so she repeated it again. To which Jared said he’d rather not be blamed for everything but okay and chuckled. My daughter didn’t realize that things were going downhill fast and I was trying to get her to step back as discreetly as possible. Now, understandably at this point, Jensen most likely saw this as an attack on Jared and he came to his defense. And I would like to state for the record, that at NO TIME have I faulted Jared for not remembering nor Jensen for his reaction. The exchange ended and then the last question was asked by another fan. We figured that would be the end of it. Little did we know what we would awaken to the next morning. 
  
  By 9am on March 12th, the page on Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, LiveJournal and a myriad of other webpages lit up with false reports that she attacked Jared, that she called him stupid and immature, etc. Needless to say there were death threats issued against my daughter, her friend and myself. There were beyond vile and disgusting comments made, calling two young girls and myself whores, bitches, sluts, cunts, haters, idiots and the list goes on and on. A personal picture of myself, my daughter and her friend was stolen from the page and passed around Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram, etc. and used to point these vicious people in our direction. I have been called a terrible parent numerous times and a lot worse as well. All for what? A misunderstanding that was brought on by a young teenage girl and her nerves?
  
  Now, I in NO WAY, SHAPE or FORM blame ANYONE from the show for any of this. They aren’t to blame for the actions of this fandom. But I’m sure they would be ashamed to know that this is how their fans treat each other. And you all know full well that this isn’t the first time this has happened. 
  
  The problem with this fandom today is that we are so stinking quick to run to our computers and jump into a lynch mob at the tiniest thing. Someone writes or supports a ship you don’t like? Bully them. Someone asks a question you don’t like? Threaten and harass them. Someone likes one character better than another? You wish harm and death on them. We gossip without all the facts like little old ladies at the back fence until facts get twisted around. And yes, guys, I’ve seen you men do it too. I’ve even seen posts where fans accuse some of the cast of sleeping with other fans when they are married, knowing full well that something like that can wreck their lives. Then, when all the bruhaha is over with, you go on your merry little way and forget about it, moving on to the next person. But what you also forget is the lives that you have affected with your hate, slander and bullying. And trust me when I say this, words do hurt. I’m a 39 year old mother and it hurt me to the core so you can imagine what it did to my daughter. Some girls that don’t even personally know her but that go to her best friend’s school told her best friend that she should stop being friends with my daughter over what happened. Is that right? Luckily my daughter’s friend told them to stuff it. But do you see how far reaching the hate goes?
  
  We just won The People’s Choice Award for Best Fan Following. And while at the time I was celebrating with all of you, now, I don’t really think it was well deserved. How can we be a family when all we do is tear each other down? When we fight over the most mundane of things? That’s not a family. A family supports and loves each other. Sure, there will be disagreements but that doesn’t mean we play the telephone game until a war is started and people are genuinely hurt over it. This all has gone on long enough damn it. I implore each and every single one of you to please think before you type. Please make sure that you have checked with the people that you are gossiping about and get the full story from all sides. Also, remember, Jared and Jensen are grown men. They can stand up for themselves. They don’t need their fans threatening people or bullying people on their behalf. There’s a saying, check yourself before you wreck yourself. It’s pretty smart if you think about it. 
  
  I understand that we are all protective of Jared, Gen, Jensen, Danneel, Misha, Jim, Ty, Mark, Richard, Matt, Sebastian and the rest of the cast. I can understand coming unhinged at people threatening the lives of Gen, Danneel, Baby Thomas or Baby Ackles. Those people are truly sick and should be stopped. But again, they have people on it. Trust me. 
  
  In closing, I would like to apologize to Jared, Jensen, Gen, and Daneel if they were in fact upset or hurt in anyway by my daughter’s question. I assure you all, she absolutely adores all of you. 
  
  And to the SPN Family, please, think first. Stop the bullying. Stop judging people you don’t know. Put yourself in their shoes. Not just mine and my daughter’s but everyone’s.

I can and I will rant about this.
Shipping is NOT solely sexual. I’m tired of hearing ‘it’s wrong to ship this’ or ‘you can’t ship that.’ like what the fuck Supernatural fandom? We want J2M’s kids to be friends. To grow up together. Not fuck each others brains out, because they are KIDS. Yeah it…

Harry Potter is fiction. These kids are real. and in the real world, this is not something people do. I mean if you want the kids, you can ship them all you want.

but the only reason the cast of SPN seem close, is because they are filming the show and see each other plenty, but they didn’t grow up together, the only thing they have in common right now is SPN, which is the only connection. You don’t know the extent of their real life relationship and you don’t know when SPN ends if the cast will see each other much. They are all living far away from each other. Jared has already put signals of living in Texas probably when SPN ends, and Jensen moved out of his L.A. home and rumors are he has moved to Malibu. So they might seem close now, but you don’t know for sure, so you don’t know if they will grow up together and be SUPER BEST FRIENDS. You have to think realistic, not live in ficition all the time. The fact that you used a piece of story fiction to depict your point shows me that you are not looking realistically on the whole thing, not just you, the majority of tumblr users. Though I do think half of tumblr are teenagers so sometimes it’s moot to argue or waste my time on it.

They are just children. All you would want to wish for the children is to be healthy and to wish the parents the best. Not complicate matters like your post, sounds dramatic to me.

I do believe you have complete misunderstood my post. I am simply saying that we want them to be friends. Is that really so bad? Wanting children to be friends? I don’t think so. The point of my post was saying that we don’t ship them in a smutty way. We would like friendship. I was using Harry Potter as an example because a lot of people know it. However, I could relate this to regular life also. If you think about it J2 have known each other for so long that they would probably keep in contact with each other even when the show ends. Your opinion may differ and that is absolutely fine. Anyways, it is a fact that the kids will know each other, and we want them to be friends. Granted that may not happen, as you pointed out. But we can hope. Can’t we? Again My original post was just pointing out that we all don’t want to sexualize the children’s possible friendships. I hope you understand where I am coming from.

Well maybe you don’t ship them in a sexual way, but alone people who say they should get married…Married people are having sex, people who fall in love are having sex. So when you only want them to be friends, fine, but in the moment someone wants them to fall in love, it is sexual.

Please stop projecting your fantasies and ideas about the future - whether it is about the show (the characters/a future recasting of the show/plotlines) or even about the future in general - onto the children of the actors!  

These children, other than being the kids of the actors (Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins) are not part of the Supernatural Universe and it is not okay to cast them into starring roles of your fantasies just because you think it would be cute!
